My Sunny Sunflower Pillows feature one of the first designs I created when starting up Hutton Hill Designs. And they're still one of my favorites.

The inspiration for them comes from a little corner of a farmer's field on the side of the road about 5 miles west of here.

Every Spring, this little slice of land (where the railway used to cross through) is mass-planted with sunflowers. And for a donation, you can stop and pick yourself a bouquet when they bloom.

HOW COOL IS THAT?

Near the end of each Summer, those of us who are fans, watch that little field with great anticipation. Then one day, almost all at the same time, the sunflowers open and show us their beautiful faces. The whole field seems to wave at us as we pass by in our cars.

I've learned to keep a bucket, a pair of gardening shears and a bottle of water handy, so I can grab a bunch as soon as they're ready. They always make me smile.
